Welcome to the 2002 Summer Cocktail Party

The annual 'Welcome to Summer' cocktail party was held at the Rec Hall on Saturday, July 6th.  It was the biggest turn-out in years and neighbors happily greeted each other as the cool night added some relief.

The Civic Association and the Chamber of Commerce joined forces again to sponsor the event which featured an impressive display by the Historical Society, headed by Rosemary Dowling whose theme this year featured the history of the Theater in Point Lookout.

The highlight of the party was the tribute to long time resident and former editor of the Community Outlook Audrey Brown.
Audrey was featured in a small film taken by MyPointLookout.com on her early and favorite memories of the Point.  She was then awarded a plaque for her long time contributions to the community by President Frank Ryan and members of the Civic Association.

While the Chamber provided the refreshments, Melinda Gillan of the Civic, along with other supportive friends, once again managed the catering of the food which was as always plentiful and delicious.

Food and fun were enjoyed by all

The party gave the townspeople a chance to once again meet their local merchants, learn a little about the history of Point Lookout, and win prizes in the raffle which closed the hour.

A good time was had by all. Thank you to the Civic Association & the Chamber of Commerce for a great kick-off to Summer 2002!
